The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has assured that the draft\nregional regulation (Raperda) on Population Control does not restrict\nanyone\u2019s right to reside, but rather serves as an effort to create\norderly, inclusive and sustainable population mobility governance.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn implementing this policy, the executive continues to guarantee\neveryone\u2019s right to determine their place of residence,\u201d said Deputy\nGovernor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno during a plenary meeting in Jakarta\non Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The statement was delivered in response to questions from the PKS\nfaction, Nasdem Party faction, Golkar Party faction, Gerindra Party\nfaction, Democratic Party and Perindo faction, PSI faction, PAN faction,\nPKB faction and PDI Perjuangan faction regarding the arrangement of\npopulation distribution and mobility management.<\/p>\n
Rano said the Raperda on Population Control is an important part of\nachieving a balance between population movement dynamics and the\ncarrying capacity and accommodation capacity of the region.<\/p>\n
This policy, he continued, is needed to ensure that population\ndevelopment in DKI Jakarta Province takes place in harmony with\nJakarta\u2019s characteristics as a global city, an economic centre, and a\nregion with a very high level of population mobility.<\/p>\n
Rano also responded to proposals from the PKS faction, Gerindra Party\nfaction, Democratic Party and Perindo faction, Nasdem Party faction,\nGolkar Party faction, PDI Perjuangan faction, and PKB faction regarding\nthe need for regulation of population quantity control.<\/p>\n
He said the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, as the executive, has\nthe authority to implement population control in order to achieve\nbalanced and quality population growth.<\/p>\n
Efforts to control population quantity include, among others, birth\nregulation through the family planning programme, as well as reducing\nmortality rates through the implementation of policies directed at\nimproving quality of life and extending life expectancy through\nintegrated and sustainable health services.<\/p>\n
The executive, Rano continued, agrees with the Nasdem Party faction,\nGolkar Party faction, Democratic Party and Perindo faction, PKB faction,\nand PDI Perjuangan faction that improving population quality is part of\nthe population control Raperda aimed at enhancing capacity, welfare, and\nquality of life of the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough the fulfilment of basic services and the development of\npopulation potential, so that they are able to participate productively\nin development, including providing special attention to vulnerable and\npoor populations,\u201d said Rano.<\/p>\n
