The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) under the Ministry of Finance
is currently discussing options to extend the annual personal income tax
return (SPT) filing deadline for individual taxpayers. The extension is
being considered because the current filing deadline coincides with the
shared holiday period for Eid al-Fitr.

“The matter is still under discussion,” said Inge Diana Rismawanti,
Director of Education, Services and Public Relations at the DJP, to CNBC
Indonesia on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

The DJP’s Director General, Bimo Wijayanto, previously stated that an
evaluation would be conducted approximately one week before Eid. If the
filing trend data shows positive growth, the reporting deadline would
likely remain unchanged.

“We will assess the situation one week before Eid. If the filing
graph shows positive growth, the deadline for individual taxpayers will
likely remain as scheduled,” Bimo told journalists at the Dhanapala
Tower in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

Nevertheless, Bimo emphasised that the DJP has prepared contingency
measures should an extension prove necessary. He added that any such
proposal would first be submitted to the Minister of Finance for
approval.

“However, we are ready with contingency plans depending on our level
of confidence one week before Eid. I will then present the matter to the
Minister to request permission,” he said.
",
