        "content": "<p>The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) held a Ramadan\nAffordable Market Bazaar at the headquarters of Ditjenpas in Jakarta on\nThursday, 12 March. The event was organised as part of the commemoration\nof the 62nd Corrections Day Anniversary and to enliven the celebration\nof Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.<\/p>\n<p>At the bazaar, various products made through the rehabilitation and\ndevelopment programmes of incarcerated persons became the main\nattraction. Handcrafted goods and processed food items were reported to\nhave sold out completely as visitors purchased them in large\nquantities.<\/p>\n<p>Director General of Corrections Mashudi stated that the event\nrepresented a strategic opportunity to introduce the potential of\ninmate-made products to the general public. He emphasised that\nrehabilitation programmes within correctional facilities were capable of\nproducing items with high economic value.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis bazaar is an opportunity to introduce the work of incarcerated\npersons which is competitive. We want to demonstrate that through\nrehabilitation processes, they are able to produce quality products with\ncommercial value,\u201d said Mashudi during his inspection of the stalls.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the promotional aspect, Mashudi hoped the event would help the\npublic obtain basic necessities at affordable prices during the holy\nmonth, whilst also stimulating the economic activity of the micro,\nsmall, and medium enterprises sector.<\/p>\n<p>In alignment with the Ditjenpas director, the head of the organising\ncommittee, Adhayani Lubis, explained that beyond enhancing the Ramadan\natmosphere in the work environment, the event also aimed to strengthen\nthe marketing ecosystem for products made by incarcerated persons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to create a more vibrant Ramadan atmosphere, whilst serving\nas a platform for the creative works of incarcerated persons to become\nbetter known to the public,\u201d said Adhayani.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most sought-after products was beef sold at IDR 100,000\nper kilogramme, significantly cheaper than market prices. The bazaar\nalso partnered with various external parties to expand the range of\ncommodities offered, with the Ditjenpas hoping that the 62nd Corrections\nDay commemoration would not only serve as an internal ceremony but would\nalso provide tangible benefits to the public in meeting their daily\nneeds during Ramadan.<\/p>",
