        "content": "<p>Guangzhou (ANTARA) \u2013 A Chinese research institute on Sunday (1\nNovember) released an outlook on disruptive technologies, selecting 40\ntechnologies that have made significant breakthroughs recently.<\/p>\n<p>At the opening ceremony of the 2026 Greater Bay Area Science Forum in\nGuangzhou, Guangdong Province, southern China, the Institute of\nScientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC) released its\nDisruptive Technology Outlook 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The 40 technologies cover five main fields: artificial intelligence\n(AI), next-generation information technology, life and health, new\nenergy, new materials, and advanced manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>All have demonstrated significant recent breakthroughs and the\npotential to advance future disruptive innovation.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the scope of applications for mRNA therapy is expanding\nrapidly, with the potential to provide a general strategy for preventing\nand treating a range of diseases.<\/p>\n<p>Ultra-fast charging technology for power batteries could also improve\nefficiency and the utilisation of charging infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>As these technologies develop and their applications broaden, they\ncontinue to drive the emergence of new industries, new business models\nand new growth drivers.<\/p>\n<p>The selection process took into account factors including the extent\nof recent technological breakthroughs, the criticality of the\ntechnologies and their impact on industry.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2022, ISTIC has published an annual report on disruptive\ntechnology prospects. The related research findings support the\ninnovative development of frontier and disruptive technologies, as well\nas forward-looking planning for future industries.<\/p>",
