        "content": "<p>Disproportional rise of bus fee<\/p>\n<p>From Jayakarta<\/p>\n<p>The issue of the increase of fees of public transportation --<br>\nKopaja, Metromini, PPD, Mayasari -- has been widely publicized in<br>\nthe media. All those transportation companies agreed to the<br>\nprojected tariff increase. On the other hand, the community, or<br>\nthe users of public transport, are strongly against the sharp<br>\nincrease of fees.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed increase is viewed to be disproportional. The<br>\nKopaja and Metromini tariffs are raised from Rp 300 to Rp 700;<br>\nbig buses from Rp 250 to Rp 500; ordinary air-conditioned buses<br>\n(limited passengers) from Rp 550 to Rp 900 and the more luxurious<br>\nair-conditioned buses from Rp 1,300 to Rp 1,900.<\/p>\n<p>Protests from the public, including members of the House of<br>\nRepresentatives, assert that the increases are disproportional.<br>\nThe public is not ready for such big increases.<\/p>\n<p>In this instance users of public transportation have asked the<br>\ngovernment to consider a more moderate increase in transportation<br>\nfees.<\/p>\n<p>TEGUH S<\/p>\n<p>Bogor, West Java<\/p>",
