A case of sexual harassment has once again been committed by an\nonline taxi (taksol) driver. A female passenger experienced sexual\nviolence and threats.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred in the Central Jakarta (Jakpus) area on\nSaturday afternoon (14\/3). The case came to light after the victim\nshared her story on social media (medsos), which went viral as it was\nreposted by several netizens.<\/p>\n
The management of the taksol service intervened to handle the victim.\nThey also took firm action against the driver in question.<\/p>\n
The victim reported experiencing harassment during her journey from\nGambir Station to her hotel, also located in the Jakpus area. The victim\nclaimed she was harassed and threatened by the rogue driver.<\/p>\n
The victim resisted and was eventually able to exit the vehicle,\nrescued by local residents and security personnel. The victim has also\nreported the incident to the taksol service provider, Grab Indonesia,\nfollowing the event.<\/p>\n
Grab Takes Firm Action Against Taksol Driver Partner<\/p>\n
Grab Indonesia has taken firm action against the taksol driver\nreported for sexually harassing a female passenger. The driver has had\nhis partnership terminated and has been boycotted by Grab.<\/p>\n
\u201cGrab has taken decisive action by terminating the partnership with\nthe driver in question after conducting an investigation,\u201d said Director\nof Trust & Safety and Grab Support at Grab Indonesia, Radhi\nJuniantino, in a statement received by detikcom on Saturday\n(28\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
Grab regrets the case of sexual violence against the female\npassenger. Grab has also blacklisted the driver, preventing him from\npartnering again.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe driver in question has been added to the blacklist for proven\nviolation of the Grab Partner Code of Ethics. With this action, the\nindividual cannot re-partner with Grab,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n
He stated that Grab received the report regarding the incident on\nSaturday (14\/3) and immediately followed up in accordance with\nprocedures. Grab continues to communicate with the passenger and provide\nperiodic updates on the handling process.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur current focus is to ensure the passenger receives the support\nneeded during this difficult time. Grab has offered and facilitated\nvarious forms of assistance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The assistance offered includes access to counselling services to\nsupport psychological recovery, mobility\/transport support with female\ndrivers, personal safety offers for passengers, accompaniment from\nGrab\u2019s special team during the handling process, and other ongoing\nsupport as needed by the passenger.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are also committed to continuing to accompany and assist in\nensuring the passenger\u2019s condition remains stable throughout the\nprocess,\u201d Radhi added.<\/p>\n
Terrifying Moment Until the Victim is Saved<\/p>\n
The harassment case occurred on Saturday afternoon (14\/3) around\n15:40 WIB when the victim requested a ride from Gambir Station to an\napartment in Harmoni, Gambir. She said the taksol driver initially just\nengaged in small talk but then the harassment began.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the start, he kept trying to chat casually until he started\nstroking my leg up to my thigh, like asking \u2018why are you in Jakarta,\nwith whom, what for?\u2019. It felt like the questions were getting more and\nmore invasive,\u201d the victim said when contacted.<\/p>\n
Feeling uncomfortable, the victim recorded a video of the driver\u2019s\nactions. She said the driver formed negative assumptions because she was\nstaying at a hotel, though it was because she had just arrived from out\nof town.<\/p>\n
She said the driver completed the trip order before reaching the\ndestination. Then the driver committed sexual violence against the\nvictim.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot even halfway through the journey, he ended my order, which I\ndidn\u2019t notice. Then he drove into a quiet road, only one lane. That\u2019s\nwhere it happened, he jumped to the back,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The perpetrator then pinned down the victim and took her mobile phone\n(HP). The victim resisted by hitting the car window. The perpetrator\nalso threatened the victim\u2019s life.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe demanded my HP password to turn off my location. If not, he would\ndrag me around,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Then, another car honked repeatedly because it was blocked by the\nstopped taksol car in the middle of the road. The victim said the car\nshe was in stopped in a back alley of the Harmoni apartment area.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s when people around approached our car. I kept resisting by\nbanging on the window. Then the driver kicked the left door, which\nopened, and the right door was immediately opened by residents,\u201d she\nrecounted.<\/p>\n
The victim then jumped out and sat on the road, and her belongings\nwere removed from the car by residents and nearby security personnel.\nThe taksol driver also briefly slandered the victim.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen he fled and said I was a scammer, and in the end, I was secured\nby the building security guard there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The victim claimed to have reported the driver\u2019s actions to the\ntaksol service provider, Grab. However, the victim has not yet decided\nto report the case to the police.<\/p>\n
