        "content": "<p>Diseases plague coastal residents<\/p>\n<p>TANGERANG (JP): Health officials have reported a high<br>\nincidence of skin diseases and respiratory infections in northern<br>\ncoastal villages here caused by unhealthy living conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Bachtiar Oesman, head of the Tangerang health office, said<br>\nSunday that of the 30,200 people in 19 districts that received<br>\nfree medical treatment last week, 28.5 percent of them have skin<br>\ndiseases and 21.4 percent respiratory infections.<\/p>\n<p>Other common health problems in the area are gastric diseases,<br>\ntuberculosis and leprosy, he told Antara.<\/p>\n<p>The areas targeted for the free health service include<br>\nKosambi, Pakuhaji, Mauk, Kronjo, Kresek, Sepatan and Teluknaga<br>\nwhere most houses do not meet basic health standards, such as not<br>\nbeing properly ventilated and having dirt floors.<\/p>\n<p>\"In addition, the lack of clean water is an acute problem,\"<br>\nBachtiar said.<\/p>\n<p>The mayoralty provides free health services to poor districts<br>\nonce a year.
