        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 The discovery of a helmet and container near the crime\nscene of the caustic acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of\nKontraS, has provided police with an opportunity to identify the four\nperpetrators.<\/p>\n<p>Metro Central Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Pol Reynold Hutagalung\nstated that the helmet was discovered by a local community policing\nofficer whilst searching the location of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are attempting to create a sketch of the crime scene based on\ndirectional sightlines from north, south, west and east,\u201d Reynold said\nat a press conference at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Monday (16\nMarch 2026).<\/p>\n<p>Police have currently obtained 2,610 CCTV video recordings with a\ntotal duration of 10,320 minutes. The footage comes from 86 CCTV cameras\ndistributed along the route travelled by the four perpetrators.<\/p>\n<p>From this CCTV footage, it was determined that the perpetrators\nconsisted of more than the two individuals shown in videos circulating\non social media.<\/p>\n<p>Director of General Criminal Investigation for Metro Jaya Police\nKombes Pol Iman Imanudin stated that there were four perpetrators who\nwere operating motorcycles.<\/p>\n<p>However, only one motorcycle carried the caustic acid, which was\nsubsequently poured on the victim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne person carried out the attack, whilst another may have been\nkeeping watch,\u201d Iman said.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the discovery of the helmet and container, police are now\nattempting to identify the perpetrators by searching for fingerprints\nand DNA through forensic examination.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, it was reported that Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of\nKontraS, was attacked with caustic acid by unidentified individuals on\nThursday evening.<\/p>\n<p>KontraS Executive Board Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya stated that the\nincident occurred at 23:37 Western Indonesian Time whilst Andrie Yunus\nwas riding a motorcycle on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Senen, Central\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst passing the location, two perpetrators operating a motorcycle,\nbelieved to be a Honda Beat model manufactured between 2016 and 2021,\napproached the victim from the opposite direction on Jalan Talang\n(Talang Bridge).<\/p>\n<p>The first perpetrator, who was acting as the driver, wore a\nwhite-blue combination T-shirt, dark-coloured trousers believed to be\nmade of denim, and a black helmet.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the second perpetrator, who was sitting at the rear, wore\na face covering or black mask resembling a buff that covered half of the\nface, a dark blue T-shirt, and long blue trousers rolled up to a short\nlength and believed to be made of denim.<\/p>\n<p>One of the perpetrators subsequently poured caustic acid in the\ndirection of the victim, striking part of the victim\u2019s body.<\/p>\n<p>Andrie sustained burns on his right and left hands, face, chest, and\neyes.<\/p>",
