        "content": "<p>Deputy Social Affairs Minister Agus Jabo Priyono attended a\ncoordination meeting on handling the Flores earthquake disaster in East\nNusa Tenggara. The meeting was held in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai,\nNTT.<\/p>\n<p>Agus said the Ministry of Social Affairs would continue to move and\nwould not let affected residents face the disaster alone. He stressed\nthat aid handling is not merely about numbers, but about ensuring the\npublic remains safe and does not face difficulties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn principle, if there is anything needed at the disaster site, the\nMinistry of Social Affairs is ready to provide support. We have prepared\nlogistics in our warehouses,\u201d Agus said in a written statement on Sunday\n(16\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Agus presented an update on the ministry\u2019s aid\nmobilisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the Efata Centre, we have mobilised aid in the form of\nmattresses, blankets, food, and clothing, including children\u2019s clothing\nand women\u2019s clothing. From the Efata Centre, we will move it to Nagekeo\nRegency,\u201d Agus said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen, from the NTT Provincial Social Service warehouse, we will also\nmove it to Nagekeo, then to Maumere, Sikka, Ende, and East Manggarai,\u201d\nhe continued.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Social Affairs has also prepared 1,000 basic food\npackages for communities in Nagekeo and East Manggarai, an additional 48\ntonnes of rice to support food needs, and the strengthening of public\nkitchens in Nagekeo, Sikka, and Manggarai.<\/p>\n<p>The public kitchens are estimated to serve more than 457,000 portions\nover seven days. Overall, the ministry\u2019s total support amounts to Rp\n4.52 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ministry of Social Affairs supports emergency needs, especially\nfood, clothing, and emergency tents. We are mobilising from three\nwarehouses,\u201d Agus said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne warehouse in Bekasi, the second is the warehouse in NTT at the\nEfata Centre, and the warehouse at the NTT Provincial Social Service.\nHopefully the mobilisation can reach NTT, where the disaster occurred,\nas soon as possible,\u201d Agus said.<\/p>\n<p>Agus added that for deceased victims, the Ministry of Social Affairs\nwould provide compensation to each heir. Each life will be given\nassistance of Rp 15 million.<\/p>\n<p>Agus asked the regents and heads of social services in their\nrespective regions to immediately collect data and report it to the\nministry so that compensation can be promptly provided to the heirs of\ndeceased victims\u2019 families.<\/p>\n<p>Based on preliminary reports, as of Sunday (16\/8) at 07.50 WITA, the\nnumber of affected residents in evacuation handling was recorded at\n3,839 people. A total of 47 people were reported dead and 110 people\nwere injured. The data collection process on victims and other impacts\nis still ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>The central government is accelerating the handling of the NTT\nearthquake through cross-ministerial\/institutional and regional\ngovernment coordination.<\/p>\n<p>The government has prepared two national posts in Labuan Bajo and\nMaumere. Aid deployed includes tents, food, generators, and logistics,\nincluding the use of remaining aid stock from the Lewotobi Laki-Laki\neruption response. The government is also preparing repairs to\nresidents\u2019 homes based on damage levels, up to relocation.<\/p>\n<p>On the infrastructure side, the Ministry of Public Works and Public\nHousing is accelerating the handling of national roads and broken\nbridges so that transportation access and logistics distribution can be\nreopened. Aid from President Prabowo Subianto has also begun to be\ndistributed using Hercules aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>For information, the coordination meeting was led by Coordinating\nMinister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno and attended by Home\nAffairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian, Public Works Minister Dody\nHanggodo, Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency Mohammad Syafii,\nHead of the National Disaster Management Agency Suharyanto, and Deputy\nHealth Minister Benjamin Paulus Octavianus.<\/p>\n<p>Also present were Commander of Kodam IX\/Udayana Major General TNI\nPiek Budyakto, NTT Police Chief Inspector General Pol Dr Rudi Darmoko,\nEmanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, Chair of the NTT Regional House of\nRepresentatives Emelia Julia Nomleni, President Director of PLN Darmawan\nPrasodjo, Director of Telkom Dian Siswarini, and Director of Pertamina\nSimon Aloysius Mantiri.<\/p>\n<p>West Manggarai Regent Edistasius Endi and regional heads whose areas\nwere affected by the Nagekeo earthquake also attended the meeting.<\/p>",
