The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) under the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections is preparing a work-from-home (WFH) scheme to comply with the central government's energy-saving policy, implementing a 50:50 split where half the staff work remotely while ensuring optimal services in prisons and detention centres through rotational arrangements. Director General Mashudi emphasised that operations will not be fully reduced, with strict discipline required from remote workers to maintain readiness. This initiative, part of a broader push including one WFH day per week for civil servants, aims to enhance national budget efficiency amid global dynamics, though sectors like health and energy are exempt.

The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) of the Ministry of
Immigration and Corrections is preparing a work-from-home (WFH) scheme
as a follow-up to the central government’s energy-saving policy.

Director General of Corrections, Mashudi, stated that his agency will
adhere to the regulations set by the government but is still awaiting an
official decision from the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections
regarding the implementation mechanism.

“WFH is awaiting orders from the Minister, and certainly the Minister
(of Imipas) will receive orders from higher authorities, which we are
waiting for to implement,” Mashudi said in Jakarta on Tuesday
(31/3).

Mashudi explained that the prepared WFH scheme will use a
work-sharing system with a 50:50 ratio, where half the employees work
from home and the rest continue working from the office.

“WFH will divide the employees into two, half doing WFH to work,” he
said.

Nevertheless, Ditjenpas assured that services in correctional
institutions (lapas) and detention houses (rutan) will continue to
operate optimally. Special arrangements will be made without reducing
the overall number of employees.

“For lapas and rutan specifically, we will arrange it accordingly
because they provide services including guidance. One of them will be to
determine the SOP inside lapas and rutan,” he stated.

He added that the implementation of WFH in lapas and rutan will be
done on a rotational basis to keep operations running.

“Indeed, there will be WFH in rutan and lapas, which means a
reduction in employees, but we will not reduce it fully. Certainly, some
will rotate one or two, which we will arrange, except for those on Jalan
Veteran,” he explained.

To ensure the effectiveness of the policy, Mashudi emphasised the
importance of employee discipline in carrying out WFH so that they
remain ready to work whenever needed.

“Certainly, WFH means working from home, and whenever we need them,
they can work. I am confident that our employees on Jalan Veteran will
be at home, because that is one of the government orders, and they will
not violate it,” he said.

Apindo General Chairman, Shinta Widjaja Kamdani, views the planned
WFH recommendation of one day per week as understandable as the
government’s step in responding to global dynamics.

The Bandung City Government (Pemkot Bandung) is ready to follow the
central government’s policy regarding the planned work-from-home (WFH)
for one day per week for civil servants (ASN).

The government-promoted work-from-home (WFH) policy is projected to
have a significant impact on national budget efficiency.

Even though ASN are allowed to work online, supervision will be
carried out strictly based on digital means to ensure productivity
remains maintained.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, emphasised
that several business sectors will not follow the WFH policy, such as
the health and energy sectors.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, explained
the WFH implementation scheme for ASN on Fridays for one day per
week.
",
