        "content": "<p>A team of lecturers from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) conducted a\nCommunity Service (PkM) activity themed \u2018Strengthening Digital-Based\nManagement and Services for Religious and Historical Tourism\u2019 on Friday,\n12 June 2026, in Karangkajen Village, Yogyakarta City. The activity\nreceived support from UAD\u2019s Institute for Research and Community Service\n(LPPM) and involved students from cross-study programmes, namely English\nLanguage Education, Islamic Religious Education, and Informatics.<\/p>\n<p>This programme was organised as an effort to enhance the community\u2019s\ncapacity in managing the religious and historical tourism potential of\nKarangkajen Village, while also strengthening the quality of services\nfor visitors to the Karangkajen cemetery, the burial place of\nMuhammadiyah founder KHA Dahlan and many other figures, including KH AR\nFachruddin and Prof.\u00a0Lafran Pane. Additionally, this activity serves as\nan initial step in developing digital-based documentation and\npresentation of information on historical sites that can be accessed\nmore widely by the public.<\/p>\n<p>The activity participants were representatives of various community\nelements of Karangkajen Village. Present at the event were the Head of\nKarangkajen Village, Mr Suhardjo, several RW heads in the Karangkajen\narea, the Coordinator of Karangkajen Science Village, representatives of\nthe Muhammadiyah Branch Leadership (PRM), the \u2019Aisyiyah Branch\nLeadership (PRA), the Takmir of the Karangkajen Mosque, the KHA Dahlan\nTomb Management Team, and local youth representatives.<\/p>\n<p>In her remarks, the Head of the UAD community service team, Nur\nFatimah, S.Pd., M.Hum., expressed her gratitude for the continued\ncooperation between UAD and Karangkajen in various collaborative\nactivities such as community service, research, and KKN. The Head of\nKarangkajen Village expressed appreciation for the collaboration between\nUAD and the community. According to him, strengthening residents\u2019\ncapacity in the field of tourism services and management is an important\nneed to support the development of the historical and religious tourism\npotential in Karangkajen.<\/p>\n<p>The activity featured three speakers from UAD with complementary\nmaterials. The material was initiated by Nur Fatimah, S.Pd., M.Hum.,\nregarding types of services and service provision for visitors to\nhistorical and religious tourism. In this session, participants gained\nan understanding of the importance of good communication, a friendly\nservice attitude, and the ability to convey historical information and\nreligious values to visitors in an engaging and educational manner. The\nnext material was delivered by Dr Sri Roviana, M.A., on socialisation\nand community involvement in the introduction and management of\nhistorical and religious tourism. The speaker emphasised that the\nsuccess of community-based tourism development is largely determined by\nthe active participation of residents in maintaining, promoting, and\ndeveloping the potential of their environment. Meanwhile, Ali Tarmuji,\nS.T., M.Cs., provided introductory training on creating multimedia\nservice products as part of strengthening the digital aspect.\nParticipants were introduced to various forms of digital media that can\nbe utilised to support tourism promotion, documentation of historical\nsites, and the provision of easily accessible information for\ntourists.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the activity, participants showed high enthusiasm. They\nnot only listened to the material attentively but also actively engaged\nin discussion sessions, sharing ideas and experiences related to\nmanaging tourism potential in the Karangkajen environment. Various ideas\nand inputs emerged to support the development of religious and\nhistorical tourism that is more integrated with digital technology.<\/p>\n<p>As a follow-up, the UAD community service team, together with the\ncommunity, will explore various advanced programmes to realise the\nactivity\u2019s objectives, namely increasing the community\u2019s capacity in\nmanaging religious and historical tourism, strengthening the quality of\nservices for visitors, and initiating digital-based documentation and\npresentation of historical site information. Through collaboration\nbetween universities and the community, it is hoped that the religious\nand historical tourism potential in Karangkajen Village can develop\nsustainably while providing benefits for the local community.<\/p>",
