        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2013 Efforts by the government to regulate Over Dimension Over\nLoad (ODOL) vehicles are no longer solely focused on monitoring\nviolations on the roads. The ongoing digital transformation is also seen\nas capable of closing loopholes for illegal levies (pungli) in the\nfield. Director General of Land Transportation, Aan Suhanan, stated that\nimplementing a digital-based monitoring system is a strategic step in\nreducing direct interactions between officers and drivers, which has\noften been a loophole for pungli. With systems such as CCTV and\nElectronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE), the monitoring process\nbecomes more transparent and minimises human intervention. This is\nbelieved not only to increase the effectiveness of enforcement against\nODOL violations but also to reduce opportunities for illegal\nnegotiations between rogue officers and drivers. On the other hand, the\nMinistry of Transportation is also carrying out a transition period\ntowards the implementation of the Zero ODOL policy. This step is carried\nout through intensive socialisation to drivers\u2019 associations and goods\ntransport operators, to reduce resistance to the policy that will be\nfully enforced. \u201cWith orchestration led by the Coordinating Ministry for\nInfrastructure and coordinated commitment from all ministries and\nagencies, I am optimistic that Zero Over Dimension Over Load can be\nachieved by 2027,\u201d said Aan. \u201cLet us end tolerance for over dimension\nand over load vehicles, as well as traffic accidents because nothing is\nmore important than human safety; one life is too many,\u201d he added. This\ndigital transformation serves as proof that modernising the\ntransportation system not only aims to improve oversight but also to\nenhance governance.<\/p>",
