The transformation of the digital economy in the regions continues to
show acceleration, in line with the increasingly widespread adoption of
non-cash payments and growing collaboration between regulators, industry
players, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Strengthening
the digital payment ecosystem is becoming a crucial foundation for
accelerating more inclusive economic growth while enhancing the
competitiveness of MSMEs in the digital era. This momentum was visible
during the Karya Kreatif Mataraman (KKM) & DIGIMAFEST 2026 event
organised by Bank Indonesia (BI) in Kediri. The event brought together
various stakeholders to encourage the acceleration of digital
transformation through strengthening financial literacy, expanding the
use of secure digital payments, and developing technology-based
financial service innovations. One digital payment service provider,
ShopeePay, participated in the activity as part of its commitment to
supporting MSME digitalisation, strengthening financial literacy, and
expanding the adoption of secure digital payments. Carrying the theme
‘Digital Synergy and Innovation for Sustainable Economic Acceleration’,
this activity served as a collaborative platform for regulators, digital
payment service providers, MSME players, and the public to accelerate
the digital economic transformation in the regions. In line with this
spirit, the adoption of digital payments in the Kediri area continues to
show a positive trend. In recent months, the number of active ShopeePay
QRIS users in Kediri City and Regency grew by more than 70%. This
achievement reflects the increasing public trust in digital payments as
well as the wider utilisation of QRIS in daily economic activities.
President Director of ShopeePay Indonesia, Eka Nilam Dari, stated that a
sustainable digital economic transformation can only be realised through
strong synergy among all stakeholders. ‘We believe that digital payments
not only facilitate transactions but also open wider access for MSMEs to
continue growing and actively participate in digital economic growth.
Therefore, ShopeePay continues to support various BI initiatives aimed
at expanding digital payment adoption and creating an increasingly
inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem,’ she said. She added that
the increasing use of digital services must also be balanced with
education on transaction security so that the public can utilise
financial technology safely and responsibly. As part of the KKM &
DIGIMAFEST 2026 series, ShopeePay presented an interactive booth
providing education on the benefits of digital payments, safe
transaction practices, and the importance of using digital financial
services wisely. The company also participated in an educational talk
show titled ‘KLIK AMAN: Smart Financial Women, Safe in the Digital Era’
with Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The
session highlighted the importance of financial literacy and consumer
protection amidst the increasing adoption of digital financial services.
Furthermore, support for MSME digitalisation is also realised through
various payment innovations, including NFC-based QRIS Tap and
cross-border QRIS. These innovations help business players reach more
customers, improve operational efficiency, and simplify transaction
recording. In addition to expanding digital payment access, the company
continues to strengthen education on transaction security. Through
educational sessions during the event, the public was invited to
recognise various digital crime modes such as phishing, social
engineering, OTP misuse, and fake customer service modes. Participants
also received guidance on the importance of maintaining the
confidentiality of PINs and OTPs, as well as quick steps to take if an
account is suspected of being misused. This commitment is supported by
the implementation of a multi-layered security system, ranging from data
encryption, Know Your Customer/Merchant (KYC/M) processes, a Fraud
Detection System (FDS), periodic user data updates, Anti-Money
Laundering (AML) monitoring, to routine cyber patrols to help prevent
various illegal activities, including transactions related to online
gambling. User protection is also strengthened through periodic security
audits and the implementation of two-factor authentication (2FA) using a
One-Time Password (OTP) for the PIN creation and change process.
‘Through collaboration with BI and various other stakeholders, ShopeePay
affirms its commitment to continue delivering innovations that expand
access to digital payment services, strengthen consumer protection, and
support the growth of Indonesia’s digital economy that is increasingly
inclusive, safe, and sustainable,’ concluded Eka.
",
