Difference of opinions<\/p>\n
We have often read in the media sharp differences of opinions
\nconcerning various issues. In spite of the differences, each
\nopinion refers to the substance and values of Pancasila and the
\n1945 Constitution.<\/p>\n
For example, the appointments of members of the House of
\nRepresentatives. All opinions claim to have been based on
\nPancasila and the 1945 Constitution. But, if we study the matter,
\nwe will find that the interpretation of the bureaucracy, on the
\nissue, is considerably different from that of Gen. (ret)
\nNasution.<\/p>\n
Again an article in a magazine says: Everything concerning
\nMandatory--the election system, responsibility, and rights--has
\nbeen stipulated in the Constitution. However, in the meantime, a
\nscholar says that a law is needed for regulating the presidential
\ninstitution, in the same way as a law for political parties, in
\nsupplement to the articles in the Constitution. Also, sometimes,
\na decision of the People's Consultative Assembly is necessary to
\ncomplement the relevant article in the Constitution.<\/p>\n
According to Gen. (ret) Sumitro, the implementation of
\ndemocracy is hampered because of different interpretations of
\nseveral articles in the 1945 Constitution.<\/p>\n
Based on the above problems, I would like to suggest that all
\nparties do away with individual or group interest, and stick only
\nto the interest of the society as a whole. This is important so
\nthat succeeding generations will not be doubtful in maintaining
\nthe unity and integrity of the nation.<\/p>\n
