Village Minister for Underdeveloped Regions and Rural Development,
Yandri Susanto, conducted outreach for the Japan internship programme to
ignite the learning spirit among students in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
Yandri provided an overview of the international work environment so
that the youth could prepare themselves to the maximum. Not only that,
Yandri also advised NTB students who might go to Japan not to abandon
their nationalism. One way is to return to Indonesia after gaining much
experience in the Land of the Cherry Blossom. “Because the competition
is fierce, you must study diligently. Do not waste this opportunity.
Whatever happens in Japan as something very good for the progress of the
younger siblings, bring it to Indonesia. After succeeding there, do not
fail to return; return to Indonesia,” he explained in a written
statement on Thursday (16/4/2026). Yandri conveyed this during a
dialogue with Japan Internship Alumni, Japanese Language Training
Participants, SMK/SMA Students, and Professional Village Assistants at
the NTB Islamic Center. Thousands of NTB youths are being prepared by
the Manpower and Transmigration Office (Disnakertrans) to go to Japan
through the internship programme. Yandri believes this programme must be
utilised as an opportunity to achieve success even if coming from a
village. This can be seen from Yandri’s own journey originating from an
underdeveloped village with economically limited conditions.
Nevertheless, he is convinced that such limitations are not barriers to
achieving aspirations and being beneficial for Indonesia. “The future of
all of you is not in the hands of others but in yourselves, what you
want to become. Do not feel incapable. As long as we are optimistic,
strong, diligent, do not defy parents, and are good to the environment,
there will surely be a way,” he said. At the event, which was also
attended by NTB Deputy Governor Indah Dhamayanti Putri, Yandri chatted
with several students about their future aspirations. In addition, he
conducted a question-and-answer session that ended with appreciation for
every student who came on stage. According to Yandri, this is important
to hone abilities and self-confidence, especially when facing crowds. He
then advised all participants who will go to Japan to maintain
themselves and the good name of Indonesia, as well as to introduce all
the good things about this country. “Younger siblings are going not in a
personal capacity but in the name of the red and white, in the name of
Indonesia. So you must take care of yourself, take care of Indonesia’s
name, please uphold the good name of our nation including our culture,”
he concluded.
",
