Dialog in art summit<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The second art summit is not only about dance,
\nmusic and theater performances. It also includes a two-day dialog
\nto update participants about current developments and trends in
\nthe art world.<\/p>\n
Organized by the art summit committee, the dialog, which is
\nscheduled for Wednesday and Thursday at the Hotel Alia on Jl.
\nCikini Raya, Central Jakarta, will feature internationally
\nrenowned figures discussing the problems of multiculturalism and
\nexploration of local sources.<\/p>\n
Scheduled to be opened by Minister of Education and Culture
\nJuwono Sudarsono, the first day's speakers will include composer
\nAlvin Lucier of the Wesleyan University, Connecticut,U.S.A.;
\nJapanese expert on music Yuji Takahashi; Sal Murgianto of the
\nJakarta Art Institute on dance; art critic Rustom Barrucha from
\nIndia; Janet Lansdale from the University of Surrey, England; and
\nJapanese choreographer and dancer Yukio Waguri.<\/p>\n
On the second day the dialog will feature music scholar Dieter
\nMack; Saini KM from the Ministry of Education and Culture;
\nChinese Opera Institute director Chua Soo Pong; Sal Murgianto and
\nBakdi Sumanto of the Yogyakarta-based Gadjah Mada University.<\/p>\n
