DHL's Asian revenues rise<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): International courier company DHL Worldwide
\nExpress announced on Monday that in spite of the economic crisis
\nin Asia, the company recorded an increase of 15 percent in
\nrevenues from deliveries of samples, prototypes, spare parts and
\nfinished goods from Asia to the United States last year.<\/p>\n
"A sustained export performance from Asian countries has
\ncontributed to our strong result. Nineteen ninety-nine will still
\nbe another tough year, yet DHL remains committed as ever to
\nfacilitating export trade for our customers, both within Asia and
\nfrom Asia to its major export markets," said Charles Longley,
\nDHL's chief executive officer for DHL Asia Pacific\/Middle East.<\/p>\n
The company announced it had been named Best Express Service
\nfor the 13th consecutive year at the 1999 Asian Freight Industry
\nAwards (AFIA), in recognition of DHL's commitment to its
\ncustomers and to service innovations. The award was presented at
\nthe ceremony in Hong Kong on Friday.<\/p>\n
AFIA is organized by Cargonews Asia magazine. The awards are
\ngiven in recognition of excellence in overall performance in 37
\ncategories by industry peers and customers, through individual
\nballots that are sent to Cargonews readers. More than 13,000
\nreaders vote in service categories. (gis)<\/p>",
