DHL offers customized distribution service<\/p>\n

PT Birotika Semesta\/DHL Express, a courier company operating in
\nIndonesia since 1973, offers purpose-designed facilities to
\nprovide inventory management, storage and urgent delivery
\nservices through its strategic parts center (SPC), a market
\nmanager says.<\/p>\n
At each of DHL Express SPCs, the company offers inventory
\nmanagement, reporting, storage, packaging and labeling.<\/p>\n
\"Our SPCs are especially suited to businesses that have
\nlimited or no outlets to service their markets within the
\ncountry. They will improve the visibility of their goods, reduce
\ntheir costs and improve their access to remote areas,\" said DHL
\nExpress global and multinational customer manager Nick Singh on
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
Currently, DHL Express, with over 10,000 customers, holds a 50
\npercent share of the logistic distributions market in Indonesia,
\nmaking it the market leader.<\/p>\n
\"We just opened four new SPCs customized to our customers'
\nspecific requirements last year,\" he said, adding that they
\nalready had 88 service centers that could also function as SPCs
\nwhen needed.<\/p>\n
DHL's strategic parts and express logistics centers are linked
\nelectronically through inventory control and order management
\nsystems that provide customers with access to accurate view of
\ntheir product inventories 24-hour a day.<\/p>\n
According to data from research company Montgomery Research,
\ncompanies using professional couriers could save between 10
\npercent and 20 percent of their supply chain costs.<\/p>\n
PT Birotika Semesta\/DHL Express country marketing manager Edi
\nPrayitno said the level of investment needed for SPCs varied from
\nclient to client depending on their requirements.<\/p>\n
While Edi said the service was gaining in popularity, he could
\nnot put a figure on the contribution it made to total business as
