Developers have building permits: Deputy governor<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The deputy governor responsible for development
\naffairs, Idroes, yesterday refuted allegations that PT Indofica
\nand PD Sarana Jaya housing developers have yet to secure building
\npermits for the construction of the Palm Estate housing complex.<\/p>\n
\"It's not true that the two companies have yet to obtain the
\nnecessary building permits. They already have them, though not
\nfor all the houses they are building,\" Idroes said shortly after
\nhe talked to executives of the two companies at his office.<\/p>\n
The deputy governor summoned the executives yesterday to ask
\nfor a detailed explanation regarding the construction of the
\nhousing complex.<\/p>\n
He said the two developers have already obtained \"preliminary
\npermits\" which means that they can construct the houses while
\nthe proper building permits are being processed by the municipal
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
Earlier it was reported that hundreds of houses in Palm Estate
\nbuilt by PT Indofica Housing in Pondok Kelapa subdistrict in East
\nJakarta were being built without the necessary building permits.<\/p>\n
The housing complex is being built on a site belonging to PD
\nPembangunan Sarana Jaya, a city-owned housing company that plans
\nto build 207 luxury houses.<\/p>\n
Of the 207 houses, half have already been constructed on a
\nseven hectare plot of land.<\/p>\n
The developers were reportedly warned repeatedly by the East
\nJakarta mayor to stop the construction of the housing complex.<\/p>\n
\"It is not true. We have never received such letters
\nprohibiting us to continue the construction of the housing
\ncomplex,\" Zaidani, one of PD Sarana Jaya officials, said.<\/p>\n
Last week, Saud Rahman, a member of the Council's Commission D
\nwhich oversees development affairs urged the city administration
\nto take firm action against developers building houses without
\nbuilding permits.<\/p>\n
He said the city administration should demolish such houses.<\/p>\n
\"The regulation says that the administration will demolish any
\nhouse built without a building permit. The city building and
\nsupervision office should be consistent and demolish such
\nhouses,\" Saud told reporters.<\/p>\n
He said since the regulation was issued to control the
\nbuilding of houses, it should be consistently implemented without
\nexception. If the city development and supervision office fail to
\npunish delinquent developers, only the poor will be affected by
\nthe regulation, Saud pointed out<\/p>\n
He stressed the city administration should punish such
\ndevelopers to deter others from doing the same.<\/p>\n
Saud said PD Pembangunan Sarana Jaya, as a city-owned company,
\nis expected to set a good example for other developers.(31)<\/p>",
