Developer wanted for fraud<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A total of 476 applicants for various types of
\nlow-cost houses in Wanasari, Bekasi have lodged formal complaints
\nagainst PT Jaya Graha, the developer.<\/p>\n
The residents raised the protest on Monday with the Jakarta
\noffice of the Legal Aid Institute as well as City Police for the
\nillegal activity of the company.<\/p>\n
According to the protesters, the developer cheated the
\napplicants by illegally taking between Rp 1 million and Rp 3
\nmillion from each applicant.<\/p>\n
The money was actually down payments paid by the applicants in
\nSeptember last year for houses to be built by PT Jaya Graha, as
\nstated in their brochures.<\/p>\n
But the applicants later found out that there was no site
\navailable for the houses of Jaya Graha in Wanasari.<\/p>\n
When asked for confirmation, executives of Graha Jaya
\nexplained that the houses to be built will be relocated to a
\nnearby site called Wanajaya, the protesters said.<\/p>\n
But many of the about 1,000 applicants have already asked for
\ntheir money back.<\/p>\n
When the remaining 476 people asked for their money, none of
\nthe firm's executives were available and their head office on Jl.
\nKapuk III\/30 in Klender, East Jakarta, was closed. (bsr)<\/p>",
