Developer promises to comply with rules<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): PT. Modernland Realty Ltd. has promised to give
\naway public and social facilities worth Rp 1 billion to East
\nJakarta's mayoralty, its director Samadikun Hartono said.<\/p>\n
\"We have no intention of neglecting our obligations to build
\npublic facilities, as required by the administration, in the
\nhousing complex we are building now,\" Samadikun said over the
\nweekend.<\/p>\n
He apologized to City Council for being unable to show up for
\na meeting with several city councillors last week. \"I could not
\nfulfill the invitation simply because it was given at short
\nnotice,\" Samadikun said. He reiterated that his company would
\ncomply with the regulation requiring all developers, licensed to
\nbuild housing complexes, to set aside part of the developed areas
\nfor public and social facilities, including parks, schools and
\nmosques.<\/p>\n
\"We promise that within two years the facilities, including
\nparks, water drainage, schools and sport facilities in 18 hectare
\nof land, will be built completely,\" he added.<\/p>\n
But he refused to go into details as to when the facilities
\nwill be handed over to the mayoralty.<\/p>\n
Earlier it was widely reported that the developer had been
\nrepeatedly criticized by city administration for refusing to
\nbuild public and social facilities worth Rp 1 billion.<\/p>\n
Modernland is building about 1.400 houses on 47 hectares of
\nland in Cakung, East Jakarta. (31)<\/p>",
