Developer asked to stop gymnasium construction<\/p>\n

PT Modernland Real Property was in violation of a city bylaw by
\nbuilding a gymnasium in Tangerang without obtaining a building
\npermit, a local official said recently.<\/p>\n
This is the second violation committed by the developer. In
\n2002, it was ordered by the administration to stop construction
\nof the Metropolis Town Square.<\/p>\n
Tangerang Capital Investment and Permit Office (KPMP) head
\nDafyar Elyadi said his office had not yet issued a permit for the
\nconstruction of the gymnasium as the application forms had only
\nbeen submitted recently.<\/p>\n
\"We hadn't expected the developer to start the construction
\nwork, however it has almost been completed,\" Dafyar said.<\/p>\n
He said the developer had violated bylaw No. 7\/2001 on
\nbuilding permits, which carried a fine.<\/p>\n
The construction of the gymnasium at the Modernland housing
\nestate in Cikokol, Tangerang municipality, was about 75 percent
\ncomplete.<\/p>\n
Dafyar said he would ask the public order agency to send
\nofficers to the construction site to stop the work.<\/p>\n
He called a Modernland employee, Herbudi, and ordered him to
\nstop the construction and close down the site unless the
\ndeveloper obtained a permit.<\/p>\n
Separately, Modernland development manager Iwan Suryawidjaya
\nsaid the construction work on the gym had to be started before
\nthe administration issued the permit because the construction
\ndeadline was looming.<\/p>",
