        "content": "<p>Deutsche giant eyes TOT<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (DPA): Deutsche Telecom and several other foreign<br>\ncommunications giants have expressed a keen interest in gaining a<br>\nstake in the Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT) -- a state<br>\nmonoply, reports said Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Thailand's Transport and Communications Minister Suthep<br>\nThueksuban said the German telecom giant, along with Nippon<br>\nTelegraph, the Telephone Corp of Japan and an unidentified U.S.<br>\ncommunications company was interested in buying a stake in TOT,<br>\none of several state enterprises earmarked for partial<br>\nprivatization, said the Bangkok Post newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>\"They are interested in taking a 25 per cent stake in TOT no<br>\nmatter how much the shares will be priced. They said the telecoms<br>\nbusiness in Thailand has bright prospects as landline phones<br>\nbelong to only 12 per cent of the Thai people,\" said Suthep.<\/p>",
