Derailed train in Brebes disrupts north coast railroad<\/p>\n

Nine trains traveling between Jakarta and Bandung, capital of
\nWest Java province, were rerouted to the south coast railroad
\nafter a train derailed on the north coast railroad on Wednesday
\nin Brebes, Central Java.<\/p>\n
No fatalities were reported in the incident.<\/p>\n
State-owned train company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI)
\nspokesman Suhartono said four trains leaving Jakarta and Bandung
\nand five others coming from Central and East Java arrived at
\ntheir respective destinations later than scheduled, as they had
\nto take a detour route on the south coast railroad.<\/p>\n
The nine trains, including four executive Argo Anggrek trains,
\nwere delayed more than four hours.<\/p>\n
\"The nine trains were rerouted through Prupuk near Purwokerto
\nin the southern part of Central Java,\" he said, adding that the
\nrerouting caused more than 5,000 passengers to arrive late at
\ntheir destinations.<\/p>\n
Economy train Bangunkarta, which was carrying more than 400
\npassengers from Senen station in Jakarta to Jombang in East Java,
\nderailed only a few hundred meters before the Brebes railroad
\nstation.<\/p>\n
Suhartono confirmed that three train cars were badly damaged,
\nand that it took over four hours to remove the damaged cars and
\nrepair the affected railroad.<\/p>\n
\"We are still investigating the cause of the incident,\" he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The train continued its trip to Jombang after a 200-meter
\nstretch of the railroad was repaired,<\/p>\n
Four trains have derailed between Krawang bordering Jakarta
\nand Brebes bordering Cirebon, West Java, in the last three
\nmonths.<\/p>\n
A cargo train derailed in Babakan district, Cirebon, on July 1
\nand economy train Gumarang derailed on June 9, while business
\ntrain Fajar Utama derailed in Indramayu on May 30 on its way from
\nJakarta to Semarang, capital of Central Java.<\/p>\n
The worst incident involving trains occurred when an economy
\ntrain hit a bus in Gemolong village, Sragen, Central Java, last
\nmonth, killing at least 12 people and wounding four others
\nseriously.<\/p>",
