Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI),
Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, has expressed hope that the school
revitalisation programme will reach schools in the regions. He reminded
that the programme must not discriminate between state and private
schools.

He made the remarks in connection with National Children’s Day, which
fell on Thursday (23 July 2026). He wants Indonesian children to be
supported with a proper education and to be free from stunting.

“Our children must grow up in good health, free from stunting and
mental health problems, have the opportunity to attend good schools,
live in a safe environment, and have the chance to develop optimally as
the next generation,” Cucun told reporters on Friday (24 July 2026).

The DPR coordinator for People’s Welfare then touched on the Free
Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme for children. He called for regular
evaluations of this flagship programme of President Prabowo
Subianto.

“MBG is a major new programme, so regular evaluations are needed to
refine it,” said Cucun.

“Therefore, we support a comprehensive evaluation of the MBG
programme as instructed by the President. By fixing whatever falls short
and with increasingly good governance, we are optimistic that the noble
aims of MBG will be achieved,” he added.

Cucun said the state is obliged to ensure an equitable education
service system for all Indonesian children. He hopes the government will
pay special attention to facilities and infrastructure.

“How can all children receive the same quality of education? The
government also needs to pay attention to improving existing school
facilities that remain inadequate and ensuring the availability of
teachers across all regions,” said Cucun.

The deputy chairperson of PKB reminded that revitalisation must
target schools in the regions. He does not want any discrimination
between state and private schools.

“The revitalisation programme must continue to target schools in the
regions, and there must be no discrimination between state and private
schools. Good quality teaching and learning will produce an excellent
generation,” he added.
",
