        "content": "<p>The Deputy Speaker of the MPR RI, Eddy Soeparno, is pushing for the\ndiscussion of the Just Climate Change Control Bill (RUU PPIB) to begin\nby the end of 2026. He stated that the bill is essential as a legal\nfoundation for controlling the impacts of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPersonally, I support the discussion of this Bill starting at the\nend of 2026,\u201d said Eddy during an Actual Discussion Forum regarding the\nRUU PPIB, held at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday\n(17\/09\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Minister of Environment, Jumhur Hidayat, has\nwelcomed the plan positively. Eddy also noted that parliamentary\nfactions, in principle, welcome the discussion of the RUU PPIB in the\nnear future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParliamentary factions also, in principle, welcome the RUU PPIB\nbeing discussed soon as a standalone bill, rather than being merged with\nother legislative drafts,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The RUU PPIB is expected to provide clear and integrated regulations\nregarding carbon emission reductions, mitigation, and climate change\nadaptation, as well as the provision of incentives and sanctions for\nboth businesses and the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plan to discuss the Just Climate Change Control Bill, or RUU\nPPIB, is one of the legislations that, God willing, will soon be\nofficially discussed in parliament,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal is for Indonesia to have a strong, clear, and integrated\nlegal product to regulate carbon emission reductions, manage mitigation\nand adaptation to climate change, provide incentives and sanctions for\nbusinesses and the public, and strengthen our existing carbon economic\nvalue,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>The member of Commission XII of the DPR stated that the aspect of\njustice is also a crucial substance in climate change control.\nTherefore, he is urging the bill to be discussed immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe aspect of justice will also be a key substance within the RUU\nPPIB, ensuring that climate crisis control provides affirmation and even\nintervention for those directly affected, particularly coastal\ncommunities, low-income groups, farmers, fishermen, women, toddlers, the\nelderly, and including Global South nations,\u201d he explained.<\/p>",
