        "content": "<p>Deputy Regent probed in graft case<\/p>\n<p>KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: East Nusa Tenggara Prosecutor's<br>\nOffice will soon question Kupang Deputy Regent Ruben Funay over a<br>\ncorruption matter. Senior prosecutor Hartadi said that the<br>\nsummons letter had been sent to Ruben on Monday and he is<br>\nexpected to attend for questioning this week.<\/p>\n<p>Ruben will be questioned in relation to financial<br>\nirregularities in the Kupang council budget for year 2004, which<br>\ncaused losses to the state amounting to Rp 1 billion<br>\n(US$100,000).<\/p>\n<p>In the preliminary investigation, prosecutors found that<br>\nthe budget committee at Kupang regental council had used<br>\nPresidential Decree No. 110\/2002 as a guide when the committee<br>\narranged the council budget last year.<\/p>\n<p>However, the use of the presidential decree was in violation<br>\nof the law as the decree had been revoked by the Supreme Court.<br>\nThe prosecutors allege that the committee manipulated the old<br>\ndecree for their own gain. -- JP<\/p>",
