\u201cBrothers and sisters, what you have made as demands is our shared\nresolve. The Ministry of Higher Education also has a strong focus on\ncombating cheating, behaviours considered contrary to Indonesian\nnational morals and ethics,\u201d Fauzan said in front of the\nKemendiktisaintek office in Central Jakarta on Monday (4\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cLet us together make the campus a fortress of morals, a fortress of\nethics, so that you at your respective campuses, if you detect\nbehaviours that are unpleasant, considered deviant from ethical morals,\nI invite you to communicate directly,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, he also assured that there would be no elimination\nof academic programmes. As for cases of sexual harassment that have\nrecently frequently occurred in campus environments, they will be dealt\nwith justly.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to try to clarify some issues. First, the issue related to\nthe closure of academic programmes, that does not exist. There is no\nclosure of academic programmes, yes, that does not exist. What exists is\nreorganisation. Meaning, reorganisation does not close. Reorganisation\nprovides strengthening to the academic programmes. And this is not only\na matter of teacher training, but also other academic programmes,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then next, regarding sexual harassment. Once again, I convey to\nyou brothers and sisters that sexual harassment or other immoral\nattitudes, including corruption in the higher education environment,\nthen we are obliged by law to be the first to defend against things\nconsidered deviant,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

At this moment, several student representatives conveyed several of\ntheir demands. In particular, BEM SI Kerakyatan submitted a seven-point\nintegrity pact to be signed by Fauzan representing Minister of Education\nBrian Yuliarto.<\/p>\n

On this day, Monday, 4 May 2026, we hereby declare a joint commitment\nto realise a national education system that is just, inclusive, and\noriented towards the interests of the people, grounded in constitutional\nvalues and the ideals of social justice. In connection with this, we\nagree to:<\/p>\n
Place education as the primary priority of the state in every\nformulation and implementation of public policy.<\/p><\/li>\n
Eliminate all forms of commercialisation and liberalisation of\neducation that contradict the principles of social justice.<\/p><\/li>\n
Realise education that is free, scientific, and democratic as a\nfundamental right of all Indonesian citizens.<\/p><\/li>\n
Ensure transparency and accountability of education budgets\nopenly and accessible to the public.<\/p><\/li>\n
Guarantee academic freedom and space for critical thinking for\nthe academic community without any intervention or pressure.<\/p><\/li>\n
Create a safe educational environment, both structurally and\nculturally. Because we know that all sexual violence or physical\nviolence still exists, in higher education or basic education.<\/p><\/li>\n
Improve the welfare of educators and education personnel,\nincluding honorary staff, through fair, decent, and sustainable\npolicies.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
This integrity pact is made as a form of moral and political\ncommitment that binds to be immediately realised concretely, measurably,\nand sustainably.<\/p>\n
If within 2 x 24 hours since the signing of this integrity pact there\nare no concrete steps and clear follow-up from the Ministry of Higher\nEducation, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, then\nthe BEM SI Kerakyatan Alliance together with the civil society coalition\ndeclares that it will again carry out mass actions simultaneously in\nvarious regions of Indonesia with a larger number of participants as a\nform of escalation of the movement and social control over national\neducation organisers.<\/p>\n
Thus, this integrity pact is made to be signed in a conscious state,\nwithout coercion from any party, and to be obeyed and implemented with\nfull responsibility.<\/p>\n
The demonstration ended peacefully.
