        "content": "<p>The beauty industry, including the permanent makeup field, is no\nlonger merely about trends and appearance. The sector has become an\nimportant space for labour absorption and business development,\nparticularly for women and micro-enterprise operators.<\/p>\n<p>As the industry develops rapidly, strengthening competency standards\nhas become an urgent need to ensure service quality and make the\nworkforce more competitive.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of LSP Permanent Makeup Indonesia and board member of PPMU\nIndonesia, Ali Tatto Sulam, emphasised that industry progress must be\nmatched by measurable and standardised workforce capabilities. Many\npractitioners possess strong skills but lack official recognition in the\nform of competency certificates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany practitioners have talent but do not yet have official proof of\ncompetency recognition, making it difficult for them to develop their\ncareers both domestically and in the global market,\u201d said Ali on Sunday,\n23 August 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the biggest challenge currently is the diversity of\nservice quality amid the broad base of business operators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe beauty industry is a sector that absorbs a large workforce,\nespecially women and micro-enterprise operators. However, service\nquality still varies greatly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>To address this, PPMU Indonesia is collaborating with a number of\nauthorised Professional Certification Bodies (LSP) so that practitioners\ncan undergo competency assessments and obtain certificates in accordance\nwith applicable national standards.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP),\nSyamsi Hari, expressed full support for this initiative. According to\nhim, certification is not merely a document recognising ability, but a\nguarantee of expertise for consumers as well as protection of rights for\nworkers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are ready to facilitate so that the standards developed by the\nmakeup association can be recognised nationally,\u201d Syamsi asserted.<\/p>\n<p>Similar support was conveyed by Deputy Minister of Manpower,\nAfriansyah Noor. The government continues to encourage the\nimplementation of certification in the creative services sector,\nincluding the beauty industry, and views makeup skills as a profession\nrequiring clear competency standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough policy support and oversight of Professional Certification\nBodies, we want to ensure that the workforce in Indonesia\u2019s beauty\nindustry becomes increasingly professional, protected, and able to\ncompete,\u201d said Afriansyah.<\/p>",
