This means the United States truly\nconsiders Indonesia\u2019s importance,\u201d said Todotua in Jakarta on Wednesday\n(16\/7).<\/p>\n<p>The statement relates to US President Donald Trump\u2019s announcement\nthat a 19% import tariff would be imposed on Indonesian products\nentering the US, based on direct negotiations he conducted with\nIndonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The tariff dropped drastically\nfrom the previously set rate of 32%.<\/p>\n<p>The updated US reciprocal tariff on Indonesian products also makes\nIndonesia the country with the second-lowest US reciprocal tariff in\nASEAN after Singapore, which faces a rate of 10%.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia\u2019s reciprocal tariff is thus lower compared to Vietnam\n(20%), the Philippines (20%), Malaysia (25%), Brunei Darussalam (25%),\nThailand (36%), Cambodia (36%), Myanmar (40%), and Laos (40%).<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the negotiation outcomes, Todotua said that the purchase of\nenergy commodities from the United States is still at the discussion\nstage. He also explained that Indonesia has no current plans to increase\ninvestment in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still consolidating because the news is still fresh,\u201d said\nTodotua.<\/p>\n<p>US President Donald J. Trump announced that a \u201cbig deal\u201d had been\nreached between himself and Indonesia through direct dialogue with\nPresident Prabowo Subianto. Trump stated that Indonesia had agreed to\npurchase US energy worth US$15 billion (approximately Rp244 trillion),\nUS agricultural products worth US$4.5 billion (approximately Rp73.1\ntrillion), and 50 Boeing jets.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the negotiations, Trump declared that a 19% import\ntariff would be applied to Indonesian products entering the US.<\/p>",
