Jakarta, VIVA \u2013 Deputy Interior Minister (Wamendagri) Bima Arya\nSugiarto has called on the youth generation to prepare themselves\nseriously to seize the opportunity for Indonesia to become a developed\nnation. This readiness, according to him, is not only related to\ncompetencies but also to visionary and adaptive leadership.<\/p>\n
He conveyed this while serving as the keynote speaker at the Garuda\nYouth Camp 2026 event at the Cibubur Scout Camping Ground, Jakarta, on\nSunday (3\/5\/2026). In his presentation, Bima emphasised that leadership\nis the main key in facing the future. He quoted a leadership concept\nthat emphasises the importance of direction and exemplary conduct.<\/p>\n
\u201cLeaders are those who know the way, who show the way, and who lead\nthe way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He explained that leaders are not only required to have a clear\nvision but also to show the path and lead directly to achieve those\ngoals. Therefore, the youth are encouraged to start planning the\ndirection of their lives from an early stage.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Bima stressed the importance of the ability to read the\ndirection of the times. According to him, success is not only determined\nby hard work but also by sensitivity in seeing opportunities amid global\nchanges.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease answer, in 20 years, where do you want to go and what do you\nwant to become,\u201d Bima asked the 558 participants of the Garuda Youth\nCamp, consisting of students from Greater Jakarta.<\/p>\n
He added that various global projections indicate that Indonesia has\na great opportunity to become one of the world\u2019s economic powerhouses in\nthe coming decades. However, this opportunity greatly depends on the\nreadiness of human resources, especially the youth generation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn 20 years, Indonesia (is projected) to become a developed nation,\none of the five largest economies in the world,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
In that context, Bima emphasised the importance of education, a\nspirit of learning, and mastery of skills as the main foundation in\nutilising the demographic bonus. \u201cNever stop learning wherever you are,\u201d\nhe asserted.<\/p>\n
In addition, he highlighted the importance of discipline and\nconsistency as differentiating factors. According to him, intelligence\nalone is not enough without being accompanied by perseverance in\nundergoing the process. \u201cThose who will become winners are the people\nwho are most consistent and disciplined,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Bima also reminded that strong leadership arises from the ability to\nadapt to diversity.
