Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Cucun Ahmad\nSyamsurijal has highlighted the uneven distribution of teachers in the\nregions, which has left some areas with a surplus of teachers in certain\nsubjects while others continue to face shortages.<\/p>\n
Cucun said the problem shows the need for more integrated planning of\nteacher requirements involving the central government, regional\ngovernments, and universities.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding recruitment, if there is still a mismatch between the\nformation needs at the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and\nBureaucratic Reform and the needs in the regions, that must be\nstraightened out,\u201d Cucun said in a statement received in Bandung, West\nJava, on Thursday.<\/p>\n
According to him, planning for teaching staff needs must be aligned\nwith the real needs of each region, including taking into account the\nstudy programmes available at universities and the absorption of\ngraduates.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe should not open study programmes or wait for students to enrol\nwithout knowing where the uptake and the purpose will be. There must be\nan education ecosystem,\u201d Cucun said.<\/p>\n
He assessed that synchronisation between the formations set by the\ngovernment and the need for teaching staff in the regions is important\nso that the recruitment process does not create an uneven distribution\nof teachers.<\/p>\n
According to him, teacher recruitment should be directed based on the\nreal needs of schools and the characteristics of each region so that\nteaching staff can be placed more appropriately.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo do not just keep recruiting without matching the desired\nformations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Rector of the Indonesia University of Education Didi\nSukyadi said the issue is in line with one of the university\u2019s\nrecommendations in the discussion of the National Education System Bill\nin July 2026.<\/p>\n
He said the bill encourages teacher needs planning to be carried out\nin an integrated manner through coordination between the central\ngovernment, regional governments, and universities.<\/p>\n
