The Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror of the Indonesian\nNational Police has intervened to investigate an explosion at Madrasah\nAliyah Negeri (MAN) 3 in Balai Gadang, Koto Tengah, Padang, West\nSumatra.<\/p>\n
Densus 88 spokesperson, Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana,\nexplained that the explosion occurred around 11:30 WIB. School security\npersonnel subsequently discovered an item suspected to be a homemade\nbomb and reported the incident to the police.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the initial examination, officers secured a number of items,\nincluding a black box, a black bag, a mobile phone, firecrackers, a\nknife, arrows, marbles, bolts, and several other items,\u201d he said in a\nwritten statement.<\/p>\n
He explained that the police then detained a student with the\ninitials R (17), who is suspected of being the owner of the items.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe identity of the victim referred to as the target of the planned\naction comes from the perpetrator\u2019s statement and still requires further\ninvestigation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Mayndra stated that the perpetrator learned how to make\nexplosives online, inspired by a similar act at SMAN 72 Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe perpetrator also admitted to learning how to make explosives\nonline and was inspired by the bomb incident at SMA Negeri 72 Jakarta in\n2025. The motive is still being investigated by the Investigation Team,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n
Mayndra confirmed there were no fatalities or injuries in this\nincident. He stated that the dangerous items have also been secured by\nthe police.<\/p>\n
He added that from the initial examination, the perpetrator assembled\nthe explosive device himself using materials obtained online and made it\nat home without his parents\u2019 knowledge.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe perpetrator admitted to having joined several online groups\ndiscussing the manufacture of explosives.
