The Denpasar City Police Department (Polresta) and subordinate police\nsectors have uncovered 100 theft cases over the past three months,\nspecifically since early January 2026, resulting in the arrest of 124\nsuspects across various cases.<\/p>\n
Kombes Leonardo D Simatupang, Chief of the Denpasar City Police,\ndisclosed that hundreds of cases fall within the category of \u201c4C\u201d crime.\nThe four categories of theft he referenced include curat (aggravated\ntheft), curas (robbery with violence), curanmor (motor vehicle theft),\nand cusa (simple theft).<\/p>\n
\u201cSince the January-March period, we have enforced action against 4C\ncrime cases. The Denpasar City Police network successfully uncovered 100\ncases of 4C crime with a total of 124 suspects,\u201d Leonardo stated during\na press conference at his office on Friday, 13 March 2026.<\/p>\n
Leonardo reported that police secured various items of evidence from\nthe suspects\u2019 hands, including 22 motorcycles, two cars, jewellery\nweighing 130 grams, and 15 mobile phones of various brands.<\/p>\n
According to Leonardo, the suspects employed diverse modus operandi\nfor their criminal activities. One modus operandi in motor vehicle theft\ninvolves using a T-key to steal victim motorcycles. Additionally, there\nwere cases of aggravated theft targeting homes and boarding houses when\nresidents were away.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe method involves breaking down doors or windows,\u201d Leonardo\nexplained.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor robbery with violence, perpetrators rob victims on the street\nwhilst making threats,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Among the 124 suspects apprehended, two were repeat offenders in\nnarcotics cases, with initials DDS (26) and PPD (30). Leonardo stated\nthat DDS was previously convicted in a narcotics case in 2017. DDS was\narrested again in connection with a robbery case on Pulau Batanta\nStreet, Denpasar.<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir modus operandi involved extortion and threatening victims by\nclaiming it was to settle a narcotics case,\u201d Leonardo said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, suspect PPD was a repeat narcotics offender in 2016 and\n2022. In the first case, PPD was apprehended by the Bali Regional\nPolice, whilst the second case was handled by Bangli Police.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow at the Denpasar City Police, the case involves robbery with\nviolence. The modus operandi involved accusing victims of being drug\ndealers, then demanding ransom money initiated through violence,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
The suspects face charges under Articles 476, 477, and 479 of the\nIndonesian Criminal Code, with maximum sentences of nine years\nimprisonment.<\/p>\n
Denpasar Police Return Stolen Vehicles<\/p>\n
The Denpasar City Police also returned several stolen vehicles that\nwere recovered. One such vehicle was a Toyota Alphard with registration\nplate B 1821 ADH belonging to a resident whose car was stolen in East\nDenpasar.<\/p>\n
Based on investigation findings, police located the luxury vehicle in\nJepara, Central Java. \u201cEvidence items that were successfully secured\nhave also been returned to victims, following identification processes\nby investigators,\u201d Leonardo stated.<\/p>\n
Leonardo stated that the Denpasar City Police and subordinate police\nsectors will continue conducting patrols to reduce crime rates,\nparticularly ahead of Nyepi and Idul Fitri holidays.<\/p>\n
