Demand of human rights victims<\/p>\n

Human rights violations, particularly in conflict-ridden
\nregions like Maluku and Aceh, have claimed a lot of victims. The
\nvictims have pressed their demand with the authorities, who,
\nunfortunately, more often than not, have turned a deaf ear.
\nObviously, this has aroused the victims' fury. They feel that
\nthey have been trifled with and, at the same time, also have an
\nopportunity to witness the truth unfolding that this country is
\nreally void of justice.<\/p>\n
The weak judicial system necessitates efforts to make people
\nin the regions where conflicts can easily break out realize that
\nthe conflicts are only part of orchestration by the political
\nelite. In my opinion, the reconciliation efforts being encouraged
\nby the political elite have not effectively put a lid on social
\nconflicts across the country. I am inclined to believe that all
\nthese efforts are just political rhetoric, not really intended to
\nreach people on the lower rungs of the social strata.<\/p>\n
Both the political elite and the government must take action
\nto pay heed to the demand lodged by the victims of human rights
\nviolations. Among other things, they have demanded that the
\ngovernment ensure there will no longer be any victims of human
\nrights violations. To be treated unfairly really hurts. Finally,
\nI am sorry to have to say that the National Commission on Human
\nRights has practically done nothing in this respect or, if it
\nhas, its efforts have been fruitless.<\/p>\n
