        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) has decided to\nshorten the duration of discipline and leadership training for\nparticipants of the Sarjana Penggerak Pembangunan Indonesia (SPPI) for\nthe Merah Putih Village\/Sub-district Cooperative (KDKMP) programme to\njust two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Originally, the basic military training, which was directed towards\nthe reserve component (Komcad), was intended to last longer. However,\nDeputy Minister of Defence Donny Ermawan stated that the training\nconcept has been changed to National Defence Training (Pelatihan Bela\nNegara) and the duration has been reduced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe learning and educational sites remain within the 67 TNI\neducational units, but only the duration has changed. This is related to\nour revision of the programme,\u201d said Donlag after a meeting with\nCommission I of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) in the\nparliamentary complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He added that once the National Defence Training is completed,\nparticipants will focus on managerial education for one month.\nSubsequently, participants will be educated by the Ministry of\nCooperatives and also the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries\n(KKP), in accordance with the village cooperative and fishermen\ncooperative programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ministry of Cooperatives has prepared the modules, as has the\nKKP, which has also prepared the learning modules,\u201d said Donny.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that this decision was the result of an evaluation\nconducted by the Ministry of Defence regarding the basic military\ntraining programme, following the deaths of five SPPI participants.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPR RI, Dave\nLaksono, stated that the Merah Putih Cooperative programme is intended\nto have a significant impact on both national micro and macro-economic\ngrowth.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, he requested that the programme be implemented effectively\nto avoid any negative impact on the government\u2019s image or the sincere\nintentions driven by President Prabowo Subianto.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe fully understand this, and this serves as extraordinary input to\nperfect this very noble programme,\u201d said Dave.<\/p>",
