Batam (ANTARA) - Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said the\nIndonesian National Armed Forces\u2019 (TNI) needs for principal weapons\nsystems (alutsista) and ammunition are beginning to be met, after the\ngovernment strengthened the development of national defence\ncapabilities.<\/p>\n
Sjafrie made the remarks after reviewing an integrated three-service\nTNI exercise in Lingga Regency, Riau Islands, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have seen for myself that the TNI\u2019s combat strength, in terms of\nboth weapons systems and the quality of management as well as ammunition\nneeds from small to large calibres, has been fulfilled,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to Sjafrie, the exercise results showed that the TNI is\ncapable of meeting challenges in defending and securing the sovereignty\nof the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, through both\npersonnel readiness and combat equipment.<\/p>\n
He said the situation differs from several years ago, when the TNI\nstill faced various limitations, particularly in terms of weapons\nsystems and ammunition availability.<\/p>\n
Beyond assessing weapons readiness, Sjafrie said the training\nobjectives set by the TNI were successfully achieved through the joint\nfield exercise.<\/p>\n
According to him, this achievement forms part of the revitalisation\nof national defence strength development that the government has\ncontinued to carry out throughout 2026.<\/p>\n
