Facilitators of the Family Hope Programme (PKH) play a strategic role\nin the process of updating the National Single Data on Socio-Economic\nStatus (DTSEN). As frontline operatives conducting ground checks,\nfacilitators are tasked with validating and verifying data whilst\nreaching citizens who have previously fallen outside state intervention\nor remained invisible to government systems.<\/p>\n
During Ramadan, when fasting takes place, field verification does not\ncease. Rather, this period serves as a reminder to turn attention to\ncommunities not yet reached by development processes, through\nstrengthening data accuracy so that social assistance reaches the\ncorrect targets.<\/p>\n
One account of the \u201cdata jihad\u201d struggle comes from Esti Kiki Riski\nSukran (36), commonly known as Kiki. She is a PKH facilitator currently\nserving as Head of the District Team in Kadia Sub-District, Kendari\nCity, Southeast Sulawesi Province.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring Ramadan, I continue to carry out DTSEN updates as usual. This\nactivity continues as normal because data updates are crucial to ensure\nthat data on social assistance recipients remains accurate and reflects\nthe latest conditions,\u201d Kiki stated in a written statement on Tuesday,\n10 March 2026.<\/p>\n
Kiki revealed that by mid-Ramadan, she had updated data for at least\n10 Beneficiary Family (KPM) units in Kadia Village and Pondambea\nVillage.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have updated data for approximately 10 KPM through direct home\nvisits,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Kiki described the data update process as involving home\nvisits to KPM addresses. This is intended to verify the socio-economic\nconditions of beneficiaries through interviews and observations\nregarding family circumstances, employment, asset ownership, and changes\nin household conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition, supporting documents are checked and data in the system\nis cross-referenced with actual conditions in the field,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Overall, Kiki noted that KPM members responded positively and\ncooperatively during home visits. This was demonstrated through their\nwillingness to provide necessary information and report the latest\nfamily conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome also felt happy because they felt valued and involved in the\ndata update process,\u201d Kiki observed.<\/p>\n
Beyond positive responses, Kiki acknowledged several obstacles in the\ndata update process. These include time constraints due to busy\ncommunity activities during Ramadan or some beneficiaries being absent\nduring visits. Additionally, the hot weather and fasting conditions have\npresented their own challenges for Kiki.<\/p>\n
However, these obstacles have not deterred Kiki\u2019s efforts, as data\nupdates are essential to ensure social assistance reaches those who\ntruly merit it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith regular data updates, changes in family economic conditions can\nbe detected, making social assistance distribution more precisely\ntargeted,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
Kiki added that data updates are highly effective in correcting\npreviously inaccurate data or information that no longer aligns with\ncurrent conditions. Through direct field verification, data can be\ncorrected to become more valid and serve as a foundation for future\npolicy decisions.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy hope going forward is that the data update process can continue\nregularly with better system support.
