Bandung (ANTARA) \u2013 West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi is urging the use\nof electronic voting for village-head elections in every village in the\nprovince to speed up vote-counting and reduce the cost of holding\nelections.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, the West Java Provincial Government is delivering fast,\nlow-cost democracy that brings greater efficiency to regional financial\nmanagement by holding village-head elections through e-voting,\u201d Dedi\nsaid in a statement received in Bandung on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Dedi explained that electronic voting allows election results to be\nknown more quickly, as the count does not take long once voting has\nended.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe village-head election uses paperless e-voting, so there is no\nneed to wait long for the count. As soon as the polling booths close,\nthe result can be seen and the winner identified as the village head,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll villages in West Java Province are holding their village-head\nelections using the e-voting method,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dedi added that the use of digital technology in village elections\nshould support faster and more accurate governance, including the\nconduct of democracy at village level.<\/p>\n
He said he hoped the digitalisation of village elections would form\npart of the transformation towards modern and efficient village\ngovernment.<\/p>\n
