        "content": "<p>The Bali Provincial Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) has emphasised\nthat the implementation of the Economic Census does not automatically\nalter the decile or welfare levels of the community. Decile data can\nchange because it is updated periodically every three months.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of BPS Bali Province, Agus Gede Hendrayana Hermawan,\nexplained that the update of decile data does not originate solely from\nBPS. According to him, the data is gathered from various sources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe update regarding deciles occurs once every three months, and it\nis not just BPS that performs the update. Therefore, the decile data\nupdates come from various sources,\u201d Agus stated in Denpasar on Tuesday\n(1\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Agus revealed that the data used in the decile updates comes from\nvarious agencies. This includes Dapodik data related to students, PLN\ndata regarding electricity usage, and results from the National\nSocio-Economic Survey (Susenas).<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, data updates are also conducted periodically through the\nfacilitators of the Family Hope Program (PKH) from the Ministry of\nSocial Affairs (Kemensos). Data from these various sources are then\ncollected and processed to produce the decile data updates every three\nmonths.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDecile data is very dynamic. Why is it dynamic? Because it relates\nto welfare; expenditure can change rapidly. Although not across the\nboard, such changes do exist,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Agus emphasised that a decile is not the same as an absolute poverty\nfigure. In his view, poverty figures may change alongside the economic\nconditions of the community, whereas deciles describe a position of\nwelfare based on a number of indicators.<\/p>\n<p>In determining the decile, he continued, there are approximately 41\nindicators taken into account. These include housing indicators and\nasset ownership. Agus stressed that the determination of a decile\nconsiders various indicators as a whole, rather than just a single\nfactor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor example, one might think, \u2018Oh, my floor is better than theirs,\nso why is my decile lower?\u2019 But it turns out that other indicators do\nnot reflect that,\u201d Agus explained.<\/p>",
