Decapitated couple found in K. Kapuas<\/p>\n
PALANGKARAYA, Central Kalimantan: Kuala Kapuas residents on
\nFriday were in shock after finding the mutilated and beheaded
\nbodies of a Madurese couple.<\/p>\n
Kapuas police precinct chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Maltha said
\nresidents were in fear after the decapitated body and heads of
\nTuri'in, 35, and his wife Surah, 30, were found at different
\nlocations.<\/p>\n
The two bodies were found early on Thursday while their heads
\nwere found some 15 kilometers away later in the evening.<\/p>\n
\"We found the bodies matched the heads and identified the
\ncouple as Turi'in and Surah,\" Maltha told The Jakarta Post on
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
The couple had fled to Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, after
\nethnic violence erupted between local Dayaks and Madurese
\nsettlers earlier this year.<\/p>\n
They returned to Kuala Kapuas on Monday to check on their
\npaddy fields and house.<\/p>\n
\"We're having trouble investigating the case because most
\npeople are refusing to give information to us,\" Maltha said,
\nwhile warning that the incident could have been intended to
\ncreate further ethnic tension.(32)<\/p>",
