        "content": "<p>The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has confirmed that the\ndeath toll from the earthquake in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) now stands\nat 54 people, with data on injuries still being collected\ndynamically.<\/p>\n<p>Head of BNPB Lieutenant General TNI Suharyanto outlined the readiness\nstrategy and deployment of logistics resources and response fleets for\nthe earthquake in NTT. He said the National Command Post for the NTT\nearthquake response is located at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Suharyanto said the National Command Post has received and\ndistributed logistics assistance, including 50,000 aid packages from\nPresident Prabowo Subianto. The aid is being channelled to two main\ncommand posts in NTT, namely the Labuan Bajo Command Post and the\nMaumere Command Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLogistics from the main Labuan Bajo command post are deployed to\nserve the areas of West Manggarai, Manggarai, East Manggarai, and Ngada.\nMeanwhile, the Maumere Command Post serves Sikka, Ende, and Nagekeo\nRegencies,\u201d said Suharyanto in his statement on Monday (17\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>To overcome geographical obstacles and reach isolated areas, BNPB\ntogether with joint elements has deployed land, sea, and air fleets to\nmaximum capacity. On the air route, six aircraft are on standby in\nLabuan Bajo and five aircraft in Maumere, including support helicopters\nfor emergency medical evacuation.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, on the land route, large logistics trucks have been\nmobilised at main distribution points, supported by the operation of\nPelni ships and ferries on sea routes to island areas such as Palue\nIsland.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding disaster impact data, Suharyanto confirmed that the number\nof fatalities recorded as of today is 54 people. He also instructed\nlocal governments to carry out damage assessments in parallel and in\nstages without having to wait for data to be 100 percent complete, so\nthat repair interventions can be executed immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cData collection on damaged community houses, whether lightly,\nmoderately, or heavily damaged, is our top priority. Damage to public\nfacilities such as the regent\u2019s office is the next priority after\nresidents\u2019 housing needs are met,\u201d said Suharyanto.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cData collection does not need to wait for everything to be\ncompleted; as soon as valid data comes in, repairs are immediately\nprocessed so that handling can proceed more quickly,\u201d he added.<\/p>",
