Deal on banking software<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): PT Multipolar Corporation, a subsidiary of the
\nLippo Group, has acquired country license rights of software for
\nretail banking from Bank Vision Software Ltd. of the United
\nStates under an agreement signed here yesterday.<\/p>\n
Multipolar's president, Winardi Setiaputra, told reporters
\nafter signing the agreement that the software uses an IBM
\nmidrange AS\/400 computer to provide a fully integrated banking
\nsystem that manages banking customers, deposit accounts,
\ninvestment accounts and loans.<\/p>\n
The software is used in 23 countries and supports multilingual
\nand multi-currency use.<\/p>\n
Winardi said Multipolar purchased the license for US$1 million
\nto sell the product in Indonesia for 99 years.<\/p>\n
\"I think a break-even point will be reached after we get five
\nor six customers,\" Winardi said.<\/p>\n
Multipolar has been for three years a software distributor of
\nBank Vision, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jack Henry & Associates
\nthat specializes in international retail banking software.<\/p>\n
Winardi said more than 200 banks in Indonesia, with total
\nassets of around US$64 million, need world class software and
\ntechnology to enable them to compete effectively and efficiently
\nwith other regional and international banks.<\/p>\n
He said Multipolar eventually plans to leave its local retail
\nbanking system software, called AMBS (Arto Moro Banking System).
