Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of\nRepresentatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that various labour issues can\nbe addressed more quickly through the Task Force for Mitigating Layoffs\nand Labour Welfare (Satgas PHK), which has been established by the\ngovernment.<\/p>\n
The statement was made by Dasco in response to demands from labour\nunions during an audience with representatives of the International\nLabour Day or May Day 2026 action masses at the parliamentary complex in\nSenayan, Jakarta, on Friday.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding wage issues, the outsourcing system, and problems related\nto planned layoffs and so on, these can be brought to it (Satgas PHK) to\ncut through lengthy chains. There, with representatives from all\ncolleagues, information can be obtained quickly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Workers can convey the problems they face, including layoffs, to the\ntask force for subsequent anticipation.<\/p>\n
\u201cEarlier, information was also provided to the government from the\nworker colleagues about several companies planning layoffs in the next\ntwo to three months. This has now entered the Satgas PHK desk for\nimmediate anticipation,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Through the task force, Dasco conveyed that the government is\ndetermined to prevent layoffs.<\/p>\n
\u201cEarlier, the President also stated that if companies are indeed\nfacing difficulties, they will be assisted, or even if they are no\nlonger able, they will be taken over so that workers still have a place\nto work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In the audience, the General Chairman of the Indonesian Labour Union\nAlliance Confederation (KASBI), Unang Sunarno, urged the DPR to pay\nattention to job security guarantees in Indonesia, particularly\nregarding outsourcing, contract work, internships, and daily\nworkers.<\/p>\n
According to him, 40 percent of the total 153 million workforce\nconsists of non-permanent workers, while labour market practices are\ndeemed worse than the regulations governing them.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe informalisation of the employment system is becoming more\nmassive, and this impacts the rights received by fellow workers because\nthey are not permanent employees, so many rights are violated,\u201d said\nSunarno.<\/p>\n
He mentioned that not a few non-permanent workers receive wages below\nthe minimum wage standard, long working hours, and no social\nsecurity.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen fellow workers who are not permanent employees want to voice\ntheir aspirations or even form labour unions, automatically the\nemployers suppress or even carry out unilateral layoffs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
It is known that President Prabowo Subianto announced the formation\nof the Task Force for Mitigating Layoffs and Labour Welfare in his\nspeech at the International Labour Day commemoration held at Monas\nField, Jakarta, on Friday morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have issued Presidential Decree Number 10 of 2026 on the\nestablishment of the Task Force for Mitigating Layoffs and Labour\nWelfare,\u201d said the President.<\/p>\n
Prabowo emphasised that the government sides with workers, especially\nthose threatened with job loss. He also affirmed the state\u2019s readiness\nto take firm steps if there are companies unable to survive.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo not worry, we will defend the interests of workers.
