PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta is\nadding seating capacity to a number of train services to anticipate the\nincrease in public mobility during the long holiday for the Republic of\nIndonesia\u2019s Independence Day on 17 August 2026.<\/p>\n
KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Public Relations Manager Feni Novida Saragih\nsaid the capacity increase applies to the Sancaka and Progo train\nservices, giving the public more seating options for travelling during\nthe long holiday period.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe services receiving additional carriages include the Sancaka\ntrain on the Yogyakarta\u2013Surabaya Gubeng route (return) and the Progo\ntrain on the Lempuyangan\u2013Pasar Senen route (return),\u201d said Feni Novida\nSaragih.<\/p>\n
She said the additional carriages are part of KAI\u2019s efforts to\nanticipate the increased demand for travel during the long holiday\nperiod.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo face the long holiday of 17 August 2026, KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta is\nincreasing capacity by adding train formations to the Sancaka and Progo\nservices. This step is taken to increase seating capacity and provide\nmore options to the public who wish to travel by train,\u201d said Feni.<\/p>\n
Feni said the public can take advantage of this momentum by booking\ntickets early through the Access by KAI application, KAI\u2019s official\nchannel.<\/p>\n

Through this promotion, the public has the opportunity to obtain a 17\npercent fare discount for long-distance, medium-distance and local\ncommercial economy class train journeys on Java and Sumatra.
