Danish environment and energy ministers due here<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Danish Minister for Environment and Energy Svend
\nAuken, in a bid to strengthen economic ties with Indonesia, will
\nmake an official eight day visit to Indonesia starting Thursday.<\/p>\n
The minister, who will be visiting at the invitation of the
\nMinisters of Environment, Forestry and Mines and Energy, will be
\naccompanied by a delegation of 60 business people.<\/p>\n
According to a statement issued by the Danish Embassy in
\nJakarta which was made available to The Jakarta Post yesterday,
\nit is the largest Danish delegation ever to visit Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The mission, which is an exclusive one to Indonesia, will
\nstart in Medan, North Sumatra, and will include visits to a
\nDanish grant-financed project in the wood and rattan industry,
\nthe Belawan Power Plant, the Leuser National Park and Lake Toba.<\/p>\n
Members of the delegation, consisting of business people from
\nleading Danish companies operating in the sectors of environment,
\nenergy and forestry, will speak in a seminar on Monday to present
\nthe latest expertise and technology in their respective fields.<\/p>\n
The seminar will cover topics such as the utilization of
\nrenewable energies, steam-based energy systems, municipal waste
\nincineration and air-cleaning technologies.<\/p>\n
The seminar will end in a joint session on Danish project
\nfinancing, export credit, soft financing and joint-venture
\nfinancing.<\/p>\n
Auken is scheduled to meet with State Minister of Environment
\nSarwono Kusumaatmadja, Minister of Forestry Djamaludin
\nSuryohadikusumo, Minister of Mines and Energy I.B. Sudjana, State
\nMinister of National Development Planning Ginandjar Kartasasmita
\nand Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Alatas.<\/p>\n
Auken will also make a courtesy call to President Soeharto.<\/p>\n
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, Indonesian
\nexports to Denmark during the January-August 1995 period reached
\nUS$74 million, while imports from that country were $68 million.
