Dangerous parking<\/p>\n
I would like to inform foreigners, especially those who do not
\nhave a driver, not to park at a free supermarket in the Kemang,
\nin the evenings.<\/p>\n
For the second time this year, Feb. 11, my Kijang car was
\ninterfered with, so that the engine stopped suddenly,
\napproximately 400 meters after leaving the supermarket parking
\narea.<\/p>\n
The first time it happened, Jan. 3, was also in the evening.
\nUnbeknownst to me, while I was shopping, somebody interfered with
\nthe car and when I left the supermarket parking area, the engine,
\nfor unknown reasons, stopped.<\/p>\n
Suddenly two young men appeared to repair the engine,
\nrequesting Rp 200,000 for the exchange of the ignition coil. I
\npaid for this street repair, not knowing that in Jakarta,
\nespecially in the Kemang\/Banka area, organized gangsters are
\noperating this kind of crime, to get easy money.<\/p>\n
During the second incident I did not pay but requested the
\nsupermarket management to help. The manager apologized and
\npromised it would never happen again and instructed their
\nsecurity guard accordingly.<\/p>\n
It seems to me that there is a special gang operating in this
\nway, trying to force foreigners to hire a driver, so that the car
\nwill be watched all the time.<\/p>\n
Every foreigner should be aware of such activities, carried
\nout by criminals, and should immediately report it so that the
\nlocal police know and can take the necessary action.<\/p>\n
