Danareksa has new head<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The government has replaced the president of
\nstate-owned securities company PT Danareksa Sekuritas, Glenn MS
\nYusuf, with Dian Wirjawan, a former director of PT Merril Lynch
\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
Director general for state enterprises at the Ministry of
\nFinance I Nyoman Tjager confirmed the replacement of Glenn,
\nsaying the government expected Dian to improve Danareksa's
\nmanagement.<\/p>\n
"The new president should of course be able to a make a better
\ncontribution than the former," Nyoman told reporters after
\nmeeting a delegation of demonstrating PT Semen Gresik employees
\nat his office.<\/p>\n
He did not say the reasons for Glenn's dismissal, but denied
\nthat it had to do with the government's privatization program.<\/p>\n
Along with state securities firm PT Bahana Securities,
\nDanareksa has been appointed by the government to be the lead
\nunderwriter to several state firms under the privatization
\nprogram.<\/p>\n
But, Nyoman recently suggested that Bahana and Danareksa could
\nact as the lead underwriters for the privatization of all state
\nfirms.<\/p>\n
Glenn, who was head of the Indonesian Bank Restructuring
\nAgency (IBRA) from 1998 to 1999, before being appointed as
\nDanareksa's president, handed over his job to Dian in a ceremony
