        "content": "<p>Danantara Indonesia CEO Rosan Roeslani has called on all business\nactors to strengthen the mineral processing industry so that Indonesia\ncan dominate the global supply chain. According to Rosan Roeslani in a\nstatement in Jakarta on Wednesday, it is time for Indonesia to achieve\nsovereignty through the development of the mineral processing industry.\nThe added value of Indonesia\u2019s mineral wealth has largely been enjoyed\nby other countries because Indonesia generally only processes up to the\nextraction stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndonesia is blessed with extraordinary mineral wealth, from nickel,\nbauxite, copper, tin, to rare earths. These materials are the foundation\nof future technologies, such as electric vehicle batteries,\nsemiconductors, defence, and clean energy,\u201d Rosan said in the statement.\n\u201cHowever, for decades we have too often stopped at the extraction point:\nexporting raw materials, then buying back finished products at many\ntimes the price.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the Danantara\u2019s Advanced Materials Industry Dialogue: From\nMinerals to Manufacturing, a memorandum of understanding on the\ndownstreaming of critical minerals was also signed between PT Mineral\nIndustri Indonesia (Persero), PT LEN Industri (Persero), PT Krakatau\nSteel (Persero) Tbk, and PT Pindad (Persero). The collaboration aims to\noptimise the supply chain and offtake of critical minerals and advanced\nmaterials to meet national strategic industry needs. The development is\ndirected not only at the electric vehicle industry but also at the\naerospace, maritime, basic components, defence, and electricity\nsectors.<\/p>\n<p>Danantara Indonesia Chief Technology Officer Sigit P. Santosa said\nthe development of the middle-stream materials industry must be part of\nthe national industrial transformation towards a technology-based\neconomy, high value-added manufacturing, and future supply chain\ndominance. Indonesia needs to seize regional demand opportunities, build\ntechnological capabilities, and enhance competitiveness in the global\nmarket to achieve sustainable economies of scale. \u201cIndonesia\u2019s strength\nlies not only in the availability of minerals but in our ability to\ntransform them into an advanced materials industrial ecosystem that\nsupports batteries, clean energy, defence, transportation, and various\nother strategic future technologies,\u201d Sigit explained. He added that the\ndevelopment of the advanced materials industry must be carried out in a\nmore integrated manner as a foundation to strengthen national industrial\ncompetitiveness. \u201cNickel remains one of the important advantages, but\nthe larger agenda is to build a broader, high value-added, and globally\ncompetitive industrial capacity,\u201d Sigit said.<\/p>",
