President Prabowo Subianto has praised Danantara for streamlining state-owned enterprises, resulting in overhead savings exceeding Rp50 trillion. The investment management body, initially met with public scepticism, has overseen significant profit growth across multiple BUMNs, including an 804.7 per cent surge at PT Timah. Lawmakers and analysts now view Danantara as a strategic and successful vehicle for reforming Indonesia's state-owned sector.

President Prabowo Subianto has commended Danantara’s efforts to
streamline state-owned enterprises (BUMNs), a move he said has generated
overhead cost savings of more than Rp50 trillion. The savings stem from
various components, including salaries for directors and commissioners,
building rent, vehicle leases, and official travel commonly undertaken
by state-owned companies.

“Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, I give special appreciation to the
leadership of Danantara and its entire team, its entire network,”
Prabowo said during his State Address at the MPR Annual Session and the
Joint Session of the DPR-DPD RI at the Parliament Complex in Senayan,
Jakarta, on Friday, 14 August 2026.

Since its inception, the Danantara Investment Management Agency was
initially shrouded in public doubt. Questions arose over whether state
assets could be managed more productively if consolidated under the
Danantara umbrella. Recent performance indicators are now providing
answers, with data showing a number of BUMNs recording significant
profit growth in the Danantara era.

President Prabowo highlighted the positive momentum in his
parliamentary address, noting sharp increases in profits at several
state-owned firms. These included a 804.7 per cent rise at PT Timah, 253
per cent at Pupuk Indonesia, 196.5 per cent at Semen Indonesia, 84.6 per
cent at Pegadaian, 80 per cent at Pertamina, 60.4 per cent at Pelindo,
40.8 per cent at BTN, and 24.3 per cent at Bank Mandiri. Additionally,
turnaround stories were recorded at two previously loss-making BUMNs,
Krakatau Steel and Kimia Farma, both of which have now returned to
profitability. Although the reporting periods vary, the overall trend
points to positive figures.

Communication analyst Hendri Satrio stated that Danantara’s role goes
beyond reviving BUMN performance, asserting that it has restored public
optimism. “It is now clear that Danantara plays a very important and
primary role in Indonesia’s future development, at least during
President Prabowo’s first term, and it is very likely to be continued in
the future given the important and strategic role currently being
carried out by Danantara,” said Hensat, as he is familiarly known.

The current improvement in BUMN performance is not seen as a
coincidence but rather the result of fundamental changes in corporate
management under Danantara. Deputy Chairman of the House of
Representatives’ Commission VI from the Gerindra faction, Andre Rosiade,
also praised Danantara’s positive performance in reforming the BUMNs.
“This shows that the partnership between the DPR’s Commission VI and
Danantara Asset Management has been successful. Successful in how we
partner and support each other to fix the existing BUMNs,” Andre
said.
",
